A Cautionary AI Tale From the Past

The legend of the Trojan War has echoed through the ages as a timeless tale of conquest, betrayal, and cunning.

Modern researchers debate exactly what historical basis the myth has, but its themes still resonate thousands of years later.

If A God Asks You to Be a Judge, Politely Say No

The story of the Trojan War starts with a wedding.

The king of the gods, Zeus held a wedding banquet for Peleus and Thetis, the future parents of Achilles. Eris, the goddess of discord, was not invited to the celebration and so she threw a golden apple labeled "For the Fairest" into the party.

Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera all claimed the apple, sparking rivalry over which of them was most beautiful.

The three goddesses asked Zeus to judge between them, but he refused to get involved. Instead, he recommended the three goddesses go to Mount Ida where the Trojan prince Paris was tending his herds.

There each goddess tried to bribe Paris. Hera offered him power and riches, Athena offered success in war, while Aphrodite pledged to give Paris Helen, the most beautiful mortal woman in the world.

Swayed by Aphrodite's offer, Paris chose her as the winner. She rewarded Paris by helping him steal Helen, wife of the Spartan king Menelaus. Enraged, the Spartans sailed to Troy and besieged the city for 10 years.

This fateful judgment would eventually set off the Trojan War once Paris took Helen from the Greeks. Thus, Helen became the face that launched a thousand ships.

The war ended with the clever Greeks hiding in the “gift” Trojan Horse and once in the city limits of Troy laying siege to the city. Legend holds that Zeus himself warned the Trojans to beware Greeks bearing gifts.

The Past Teaches Us the Future

So how can ancient Troy guide a wise and safe Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption?

New technologies promise much but require thoughtful progress to limit risks. Firms dazzled by AI’s potential sometimes overlook perils.

The current surge in AI has sparked competing priorities between rapid innovation and caution. Seeking more input, making space for new voices to be heard, and being transparent during the process will help in a harmonious implementation.

Above all, acknowledge concerns and hear out the cautious.

Heeding wisdom from unexpected sources can stop history from repeating. The question remains whether we will heed those warnings or face unexpected ruin.

Overall, smaller companies must balance wariness of unfamiliar technologies with wanting cutting-edge tools.

We Need a Hero

There are more collaborative stories that emerged from the Trojan scattering and Greek resettlement that often get overlooked for tales of conquest and violence.

Similarly, the most inspiring AI applications uplift society broadly rather than furthering the goals of a privileged few.

Zeus and the gods acted according to their own selfish motivations, laying waste to humanity in the process. Unlike the mythic gods, those guiding AI have a responsibility to temper godlike power with wisdom, compassion, and accountability.

This is where Your AI Wizards come in.

We help small businesses find the best solutions for their AI needs. We work with the business to implement AI solutions that work for them. We work as a guide by the side of the business to make sure that the proper tools and applications are found.

And finally, maybe the most important step, we train the staff and business owner or management on how the application works and can be used for the business.

This commitment is not just for now, it is for as long as the business needs us. We don’t fly in and fly out leaving the business wondering what happened. We offer a commitment to the business.

We also offer a tool named Website Data Pro (WDP) that helps identify website visitors. You are then able to get information about these visitors so that you can market to them immediately. The best part, they have opted in, so you contact them immediately because they are ready to buy. Vistors are identified 24/7 and you can be notified within minutes instead of days.

While Troy should have heeded the words of advice about gifts, you need to heed what Your AI Wizards has to offer.

Contact us for a free consultation about your AI needs and how WDP can assist you in finding more leads.

The Odyssey to Better Solutions

Hard choices lie ahead as AI becomes more and more established in business and life.

Without forethought, AI risks playing the role of the Trojan Horse, inviting ruin while promising progress.

But as developers continue to act thoughtfully and society adapts to the learning curve of AI, this new era will blossom into an opportunity to lift us all up to a better civilization.

Together we will write the next chapters of the AI saga.
